In the first four months of 2019 we received zero Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), a year-on-year decrease of 100%.
In 2018, between the same period, we received a total of five PCNs, costing the business £185.
For over three years, since joining the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), we have been working hard to cut unnecessary costs across the business and reducing the amount of fines and charges our drivers receive has been one of our main objectives. To do so, we’ve put various things in place, including:
- Implemented a fines and charges policy
- Inducted and trained staff – ensuring that they fully understand the regulations
- Put the ownership onto the drivers to pay PCNs they incur to encourage them to take responsibility while they are out on the road
- Developed a system to monitor and investigate all PCNs – which also allows us to complete trend analysis’
- Utilised the resources and training provided by FORS e.g. eLearning modules and toolbox talks
- Evaluated the impact of the policies and made recommendations for improvements
Rhys Fildes, Managing Director, said: “We have and continue to put a lot of effort into our FORS accreditation so it’s always great to see improvements like this, proving its success.
“With so much uncertainty in the economy at the moment due to Brexit and the continuous increases in the price of fuel, it’s crucial we avoid additional expenses.
“After a much busier start to the year compared to previous years, this is a great effort from the whole team.”
